Blue HOPE & The Big Rock Project Wow Bundaberg!

The Blue HOPE team travelled to Bundaberg on the weekend (17/18th February) to attend the inaugural Heart & Soul Festival which was organised by two of our most active supporters, Dan & Tracey. This incredibly talented couple pulled out all the stops to organise an amazing festival which included a Classic Car Show, Pinup Girl Pageant, Rock Concert, Food Trucks and the magnificent Big Rock Project.

The Big Rock Project is an homage to the Rockin 1000 events where large groups of musicians (about 1,000) come together to perform.  All in all, 50 musicians and vocalists came together to perform 3 songs, “Touch” (Noiseworks), “Soul Revival” (Johnny Diesel & The Injectors) and “Baby I’ve Got You On My Mind” (PowderFinger). Although a really hot day, attendance at the festival was amazing and there’s a rumour that this may become an annual Bundaberg event.

The Blue HOPE team put on a bus to transport musicians and their kit to Bundaberg from Brisbane.  Many thanks to the local member for Bundaberg (and former Police Officer) David Batt and the Bundaberg Regional Council for making the Bundaberg Recreational precinct available. Also a big thanks to APIA for sponsoring the stage setup and to John “Bluey” O’Gorman for driving the bus for us.

It was a terrific day out and we were honoured to receive a cheque for $1,660 which will be invaluable in helping us expand our programs in 2018.

Here are some photos from the day.
