Since our 1300 00 BLUE HelpLine launched in Queensland and WA this year, we’ve received 161 calls from current and former police officers and this has led to more than 72 ‘engagements’.

Ride Alongside – Good one Rob

Blue HOPE had the pleasure of meeting with WA police officer Robert Seaman about his Ride Alongside awareness cycle in May.

Alongside addresses the vast unmet need for support services for partners and families of those serving on the thin blue line and those living with post traumatic stress disorder – this is close to Blue HOPE’s heart and it’s great having another organisation sharing the load in this space.

Blue HOPE Co-founder Bruce Graydon spoke at Perth’s Mental Health Professional Network forum organised by Blue HOPE psychologist and former police officer Danielle Baldock.

It was encouraging to see a great turn up of WA psychologists, counsellors and service providers interested in first responders’ mental health needs and in tailoring support to the unique needs of emergency services personnel.

Police in Western Australia now have access to our assistance 24/7 with our helpline 1300 00 BLUE.

Police may see more trauma in a single shift than many people experience in a lifetime, but often lack the support networks to discuss and deal with what they see.
